Mystery Cable?

Mystery Cable?
We've been working on getting my kid's A4 18.T on the road, changing plugs, VC gasket, timing belt, serpentine belt, tensioners, rollers, etc etc, and have come across a cable in the engine compartment that I cannot figure out.
I believe it was disconnected when we got the car, and it has a number on it: 4B1.971.321.
I searched and can only find one website where it's referenced, and it's some guy asking "where the heck does this cable go!?". He got some answers. In spanish....

Can anyone help me out on this cable? Is it supposed to be disconnected, or does it have a home?
Any help is appreciated!

Yeah my bad on that one! Should have posted a pic. However, I did figure out what the heck that wire was through the use of a spanish translator on the forum thread link I posted, and a little more homework on my part.
The wire was connected in the block of wires beneath the black cover over the power steering fluid reservior. Turns out it is the alarm wire to the hood latch.
