Default Comparison of Meyle and Hengst Air Filters

Last time I changed the filter I bought the Napa house brand, which is usually Wix, but it was Meyle(L). This time I got Hengst (R) and I think it's better quality due to its having far more pleats than the Meyle.
Thought others would find this interesting.

Yea compare oil filters too. Is scary how pathetic FRAM and other filters are compared to WIX or MANN. i never get to concerned over air filters, the pleats just hold more dirt, so the less pleats last less time, just change it more.

Yeah, no kidding. I used to sell metalworking tooling, and one factory I went to here in TN made oil filter housings ("cans"). The cans were then sent elsewhere for filling but some were sent back to show any problems with the cans. The Wix ones had nice (but surprisingly unprocessed) cotton as their filter medium. Another brand (I won't name it but it started with Fr and rhymes with "Ram") used waste from a nearby mattress factory as filter media. It varied from cotton to polyester to sheets of vinyl. If you saw that you'd never buy another of that company's filters!

Also Wix used to make and "private label" Napa's filters (they were plain white), but IIRC all NAPA's filters are in Wix boxes now.

Speaking of oil filters here is a cool link on that topic, found on this or another Audi forum.
