Do I need to do anything to remove the gold plating stuff from new rotors?

Do I need to do anything to remove the gold plating stuff from new rotors?
It's for rust protection, but I'm not sure if I should remove it from the swept areas of the rotors. These are my track rotors and will be bedded in during the next week with the go-faster pads.
