Default Hard Starting.....Possible Coolant Temp Sensor Problem?

Has anyone else with the 4.2 had to replace their ECTS? After searching the forums I see allot of issues with this part on the V6 cars, but not much info regarding the V8.

Car starts fine first thing in the morning (or when engine is otherwise cooled off). After it's been driven and engine is warmed up, if I shut it down she wont refire. it will just turn over and over, and the engine floods quickly judging by the smell of gas. After maybe 20-30 seconds it will hesitate and almost start, if I floor it it will eventually crank over, at which time it will idle erratically for about another 20 seconds then run fine after that. Any ideas?
Also have been noting a faint smell of coolant and a minor amount of coolant consumption, I doubt any of this is related but I figured I'd throw that out there.
