Homelink system - difference between VC1 and VC2 versions?

Does anyone know the difference between the 'VC1' and 'VC2' versions of the Homelink system?

FWIW I retrofit a system quite some time ago that I'm still struggling to get synced up to the garage door opener unit.

VC1 is first version where theres no information or control from the MMI and VC2 has the MMI Menu item. VC2 was designed to be easier to setup as the MMI guides you through it.
