I have a 1992 Audi 100CS and suddenly the passenger window will go up, but won't go down.

I managed to directly wire from the battery terminals to the harness and made the motor go both ways with the direct electrical connection, but the standard switches aren't doing it. Also, with the direct wiring, after bringing the window down, the door switches worked to get the window back up. One way only for the switches, but the motor does work to go both ways.

Does this sound like a switch issue or is there possibly a relay or other electrical component that I need to trouble shoot?
