Audi A4 Avant B8 roof racks cross use?
Hi ,was wondering if I can use genuine roof racks from an another model on my Avant B8 (2008)? There seems to be plenty of original used on eBay, especially Q3 s but not many A4 Avant ones ..Also would A4 racks from newer generation fit my car? Tnx

I can't answer your question directly; but, use this website (or one of the alternative OEM vendor sites and insert your year and model
Base Carrier Bars - 2008 Audi A4 Accessories - Shop the Online Catalog (audiusa.com)
You will find the part number for the bars that fit your car. Then check the part number for the racks on Ebay based upon the year and model of the car that they claim to fit. If the part number comes up the same then you know it will fit.

The Audi roof base is going to be model specific. The one for the type 8K (B8 A4) avant is 8K9 071 151 C, while for the type 8K (B8 A4) sedan is 8K5 071 126 B. Then the one for the type 8U (Mk1 Q3) is 8U0 071 151. Etc.
A more interesting comparison would be something like Thule parts, what is used with what. For a B8.0 avant, they show options for crossbars that go rail to rail and for crossbars that extend past the roof rails.
For a B8.0 A4 avant with flush rails:
Thule Flush Rail Evo feet (710601) with Thule Wingbar Evo 118 bar (711200) or Thule SquareBar Evo 118 bar (712200)
Thule Flush Rail Edge feet (720601) with Thule Wingbar Edge 95 front bar (721400) and Thule Wingbar Edge 86 rear bar (721300)
For a Mk1 Q3 crossover with flush rails:
Thule Flush Rail Evo feet (710601) with Thule Wingbar Evo 127 bar (711300) or Thule SquareBar Evo 127 bar (712300)
Thule Flush Rail Edge feet (720601) with Thule Wingbar Edge 95 front bar (721400) and Thule Wingbar Edge 86 rear bar (721300)
Thule AeroBlade Edge 7603 front bar (957603) and Thule AeroBlade Edge 7602 rear bar (957602)
So we see the Q3 is using the same feet and similar bars, just different lengths (I presume that's what the number represents, cm length). But the same lengths for the rail to rail "Edge" configuration.
What about the B9? Again, I'd look at what Thule is selling for those and see if they are the same or different from what Thule sells for yours.
