Default '01 versus '01.5 - Differences? How to tell year/build date?

I'm considering buying a used S4 in the next few months...

Thanks in advance.

Default The badge is the easiest indicator.

Old badge = '00 or '01.
New badge = '01.5 or '02.

There must have been some significant mechanical changes...

I say looking for the f-hose as my 2001 (pre-2001.5) has the newer badges.

Default Mechanical changes...

The turbos were revised slightly (larger oil inlets), the vaccuum system hoses were changed (no more F-hose, brake booster vaccuum connection to bottom of accordian pipe, the PCV valve/y-pipe connection is slightly different), the ECU went from 551H to 551M.

But if you are trying to tell an '01 from an '01.5 the easiest way is the badge.

Default Not really... Shifter linkage slightly diffrent, no f-hose (good thing) supposedly better

Supposedly better oiling for the turbos. Can someone actually verify that???
Remolded intake manifold (slightly better efficiency)

The difference is not really that much better.
