DVD Audio disc 2011 A8 B&O
Just moved up to a 2011 A8L from 2009 S8, both with B&O.
Tried to play a DVD Audio disc in the A8 and it would not put out any sound (Eagles-Hell Freezes Over). Has anyone played DVD Audio discs in this system. The DVD Video discs play fine.
Thanks
Kris

Hi Kris-
The MMI manual says it will play
Not sure if your Eagle's DVD is compatible.
I had trouble with a Steely Dan disc - grabbed the DVD music video thinking I could just listen and it wouldn't play, so I had to revert to the CD.
Have also noticed the DVD changer acts differently than the single slot DVD sometimes.
The easiest thing I've found is to copy the music to a 32GB SD card and then copy to jukebox if I don't want to swap cards.
Works well for movies too.

CD, DVD+-R/RW, Standard DVD Video and DVD Video compatible DVD Audio.

I have played audio DVD that I have created myself without issues. I believe it comes down to the format of the Audio. MP3's play without issues, which is the format I used to create my Audio DVD.

You cannot play DVD-A in the A8, but as you've found out you can play the DVD-V format that usually comes with them.
You can rip DVD-A to other formats like flac/WAV using a tool like DVD-A Explorer but you won't be able to play the 96/24 format audio directly in the A8. The MMI online manual shows a supported audio spec of 'Up to max. 320 kbit/sec and 48 kHz sampling frequency'
Perhaps an external audio player can be interfaced with the car but I don't know if you'd get multichannel audio, so it seems like DVD-V could be the best compromise. If you have a DVD-A but no associated DVD-V, you could likely construct one with the right tools, try searching for 'author dvd-v from flac'
