New RS4. vagcom questions
Just picked up a blue 2008 RS4 and absolutely love it! Im coming from an 04 S4 that was involved in an accident.
I was wondering which vag com cables work my new car. I have the "KEY-USB" which worked fine for the b6 models but i am assuming i will need a new one. I see a lot of "HEX-USB" cables on ebay but i cannot tell if they work for a 2008 or not. According to the ross tech website it is a discontinued product but it does not say which cars it works with. it looks identical to the "HEX-USB+CAN" but is $100 less.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance

It's been almost 7 yrs that I've had my cable (HEX-USB-CAN) and don't remember all the specifics of each version; believe it has to do with what system the car uses to communicate.

One thing to note, a genuine ross-tech cable has the vcds license embedded in the head of the cable. The software is free to download but isn't fully activated until you connect the cable and it reads the license key off of it.
You can probably use a different cable, just not sure if you'll have full access to all the different modules.

All the ones from China (fake) have limitations and IMHO not worth the risk
