Default 2014 TDI 0-60

Hi everyone!

Just bought a Phantom Black Prestige TDI A6 and I'm lovin' it!

Just wondering... does anyone feel like the 0-60 is not quite 5.5 seconds, as advertised?

Is there an easy way to measure this on your own?

The acceleration feels a lot more powerful than my 2011 A4 Quattro, but the engine seems to be holding back just as you get to 55 mph. I've got the car in dynamic mode without the manual shifting.

Disclaimer: I am not endorsing any street racing!!!

In European markets they quote 6.1s. The Bi Turbo TDI in Europe with 313 hp (which we don't get) is quoted 5.3s, 0.2s faster than 3.0 TFSI. Don't know why US market is different.

i thought the euro makrets would quote 0-100kph or it nearest mph, 0-62 mph.

Funny you mention that because I was merging onto a secondary highway the other day...from a full stop into 2 lanes of traffic moving 60+. The car pulled out great, but i noticed that the rate of acceleration did seem to decrease w/ the speedo approaching 60...regardless, still got up to speed and merged without a problem (be it in 5.5 or 6.0 seconds). I'd have to guess that it's rated at 5.5 with shifting manually and holding the revs, but either way, I'm loving the TDI and don't miss my '10 3.0T at all.

Try short shifting. The torque runs out past 3k rpm in most diesels. Redline won't really help with acceleration, but staying in the sweet spot of the torque band and the turbo delivery will provide the most thrust. Were you in D or S? Was the MMI set to auto or dynamic? I think there is launch control, but I'll let someone else find that out...

Here's the biturbo using launch control:

In the U.S., launch control is only on the S-tronic transmission which comes in the S-6.

On the iPhone, you can download the app 'Dynolicious'. It's like $8. It works really great and is easy to use.
It is as accurate as $1000+ dedicated systems.

If you have Android I'm sure there is something equivalent

Thanks for all the replies everyone!

I was in S. MMI was set to dynamic. I'm sure elevation, air temperature, tire temperature, oil temperature, humidity, and laden weight all contribute... but just saying... I wish the torque pull lasted all the way to 75 instead of 55

I'll check out the app soon.

Try shifting at 3k rpm in manual mode.
