2014 Audi S5 Advice
Hello. I currently own a 2018 A5 (I purchased it brand new back in Dec 2017) and I've always felt like I settled because I wanted a S5. Fast forward to today and I recently came across an S5 for sale (2014). The car has been dealer-maintained and the couple selling have been the only owners. The car has 57K miles (mine has 56K). I plan on taking a look at it today and I'm interested. Would it be smart to sell my car and purchase the S5? My car is paid off and the S5 is listed for $20K. It is a prestige model. My current car is a premium plus. I know the main thing is the car is older, on an older platform, and a V6 is probably more to maintain vs a 4cyl. Any further help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You are right that you will be going back a generation in Electronics technology but I would do it. I am biased as I have a '13 RS5 & a '13 S5 (Premium Plus). I do have a Stage 2 on my S5 and do run it hard but I also increase the frequency of Mx than Audi's ridiculous 10k oil changes, I also service the DSG every 25k miles instead of Audi's 35k miles. I'm up to 72k miles on mine and it runs better than new. Only thing I had to do was replace the waterpump which many of the B8's and earlier B8.5's had waterpumps die prematurely. Other than that I did the pugs at 50k, Oil changes and filters is it. Have updated the Nav software and Maps as I do use it regularly. Not the greatest phone reception where I travel so phone navigation would be spotty due to data loss. I did install the Apple Carplay in my RS5 but due to spotty phone/data reception I'm more than happy to use SD card or music on my phone and the B8.5 Bluetooth works great on phone calls.

Thanks for the info and advice. What did you use to retrofit the Apple carplay? I think I would miss that and Audi pre-sense the most if I did get the S5. The pre-sense has def come in handy more times than not.

I used RSnav.com for my wifes Q5 and upgrademyaudi.net for my RS5. Basically the same pieces, and I've seen other brands online. I think they are all made in the same Chinese factory. Pre-sense would be nice, the most you can get in a optioned B8.5 is Adaptive Cruise control with Side-assist. They started with Google Maps but Audi quit supporting that with Google so it no longer works.

We have almost 150k miles and still on the original clutch (2014 S5). Stereo seriously SUCKS. We have had no issues with the car (knock on wood). No CELs and no issues with "carbon buildup" yet. Car runs strong with the API tune.
