Default 1990 100Q air bag light

my light has been on for some time. I recently bought an A4 & after replacing oil pan (grr!) that air bag light was on, so I purchased a code reset device that had several cables, one fit the A4 & I reset that light, another had the 2 plug early Audi cable that fit my dealer installed recall/update plug, when it connects it says "no i/p control system for airbag" any ideas I'm tired of seeing that airbag light on & would like it to function

The airbag computer has it's own set of connectors behind the drivers side tunnel cover. http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/troubl...ting/susp.html

the reset device I bought has the 2 wire connectors that fit the 2 wires in the drivers side center console, I used to have a shop that had the proper VAG but they are gone now & indie shops don't seem to have this older style, when I connect the reset device it acknowledges it's connected to the system but gives me an error message
