Re: all these pretty white cars. what is your opinion on this compared to the 2.7 A6?
It's tough to say, keep in mind I only have about 60 miles in the S under my belt now on my own. Just picked up the temp tags this morning.
As for a comparison, well this S is very tight, the power comes on nice and smooth and it really moves.
The A6 was a pig. The best thing i did was get H-Sport sways and just leave the rear set to the stiffest setting. The twin turbo is very nice. I had a 6sp manual on that. The A6 could really fly. The A6 is a "big" car for that speed and if modified right I'm sure is a dream. I sold it because I wanted to buy a house and didn't want any debt going into the process.
The A6 obviously is a bit more modern and luxurious, the S is dated, but fortunately it's style is classic in every aspect.
The S cars have a lot of stuff you can do yourself and while cost is always relative, it appears may be a bit more cost effective to maintain. The 2.7Ts are notorious for turbo failure and things like replacing the timing belt (if you pay a shop) is around $1200+. Not sure what the shop cost is on the S.
If you are driving a modified S, don't drive a stock A6 2.7T, unless you are looking for a softer ride. I would recommend looking for an already modified and well documented maintenance history A6.
We'll see though, I need to get used to driving this car, find the sweet spots and then I will be a better judge, these thoughts are just after getting to work and not having a real chance to "have fun" with my new car yet.
I am driving it to southern New Mexico for Thanksgiving so that is about 1100 miles round trip so i should get more in tune with the car.
Thanks for all the comments.

Is that Chad Clark's old car???
If so, very nice. I've known him for years when we both had 5000CSTQ's.
He takes excellent car of his vehicles and all mods are done tastefully, and done right!
What did he buy to replace it?
Can you email me with his email address?
