Hello folks. I am brand new to the forum and might be a brand new Adi owner soon.

Should I buy a "Northern" car or look for one that has not seen road salt?

I am considering a 2007 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro with 65K miles. The car originated and spent the bulk of its life in NY/NJ. The under carriage looks OK but the exhaust definitely shows a little more corrosion (or what appears to be) than other cars I have looked at.

The car is very clean inside, normal wear/use. Everything works. Exterior in good shape, a few scratches, nothing that concerns me. Drive good and is solid.

I like the car as it has the color/options I want and the price is decent for the miles, wear. I just don't want to be replacing an exhaust in the next couple of years.

IMHO nothing to worry about as long as it's just mild surface rust. I've had Audi exhausts survive 10 years in Vermont winters..
