Default turbo going bad? (video included)

Hello Audi Fam. I'm supposed to be picking up a 2001 Audi A6 Quattro Turbo tomorrow but before i did that i wanted to share a video of it with you guys that are familiar with Audi sounds because i know that if a turbo goes bad on these things they are expensive to fix. any insight is appreciated, if it sounds good then great but if it doesnt then please save me from a bad deal! I hope im just paranoid because i really like this car..

Hard to say, but when a turbo goes, it usually screams like a dentist's drill. Often accompanied by lots of smoke. There might be a vacuum leak somewhere causing the whistle. Can you hear it under the hood at idle? Tire noise?

If the car is chipped, you will hear more turbo whine, since it spools up faster. Un-chipped turbo whine is barely audible and pretty much masked by normal engine noise.

If the turbo is bad will it scream like a dentist drill when idle also?

Still might be some noise, but the real screaming is under boost. With a stethoscope or long screwdriver held to your ear with the tip on a turbo, you probably would hear some bad noise even at idle that would increase if you revved it up. Less noise than under load, but you could pin the noise on the turbo without having to drive the car and listen. Check for vacuum/boost leaks. Throttle body boot, diverter valves, hoses, etc.
