I've always been biased towards naturally aspirated engines. But now I have the 2.0 engine with turbos. There has been earlier discussions about the Turbos getting replaced at 60,000 and 80,000 miles by two A4 owners with the 2.0 engine. But they had earlier 2009 models.

I was just wonder whether Audi has improved the Turbos for 2012-2013 2.0 engines? And if so, how long would they last on average?

Is there a free extended warranty on the Turbos? One owner claimed Audi covered his Turbos at 80,000 miles.

I did a lot of research while shopping the Allroad and Q5 and didn't see anything that would indicate any changes/updates to the turbo in the 2.0 engine. I didn't come across any particular issues with the durability of the turbo either, although I'm sure there are failures now and then.

I was a little apprehensive about the turbo engine too, but don't keep cars much beyond the factory warranty period so it's not too big of a concern.

I've had two turbos, a 1991 Mazda MX-6 which was still running fine when I sold it after 17 years and a 2000 Audi A4 1.8T which is also still running fine. Use synthetic oil and when you pull off the highway always let the engine idle for 60 seconds to allow the fluids to dissipate the heat.
