Lets see....... could it be people like the sun, enjoy the view at night, open it when the weather is nice? I don't notice a lot of noise from the room when closed.

The dealer sent me an update today.
"The factory is estimating that your car will arrive here sometime between November 12th and November 30th."
So, it seems that the whole thing may even take less than 3 months.

I ordered a Q5 (my first Audi)without the sunroof on Sept. 17th and was given a delivery date of the week of November 18th. So exactly two months. The dealer had mentioned that it would take about three months, but the confirmation came back with the earlier date. So maybe they have stepped up production due to the demand.

Wentto the dealer today and placed the order. Ice silver, black nappa, MMI, side assist and B&O. The dealer installs wheel locks by default too. It is "complementary". Left all other default options and opted for no sunroof. Probably a bit unorthodox but feels right for me. Got my 6% supplier discount as well. My order is probably the cheapest one around. It was just over 56k before f&t. Now the wait begins.
Though very small as it seems.

In SA we get the Q5 as standard with no pano roof. In other words a solid metal roof. If one wants the pano roof it is an extra cost option, around the same value as specc'ing the MMI navigation. Crazy how differently things work in different parts of the world. Seems ironic that they will delete the sunroof in your part of the world for "free". They should be deleting it for a healty credit against your purchase price!
Same as "deleting" your 20 inch wheels and giving you 18"s instead - wait for it.... at no cost to you. Bargain...not.
