A yellow Oil Min. light has appeared on my 2010 Q5 3.2. In addition there is a massage 'Add Oil max 1 quart. You may continue to drive.' I have done 44000 miles .

Went to Audi who topped up the oil and have made an appointment to attend to issue. They state it will take over three hours to resolve. Despite the oil top up, the amber oil light is still on.

Has anyone experienced this? Is this due to the carbon build up?

I think there may be two unrelated issues. Oil consumption is quite common, so there many be requirement to add oil between oil changes. How many miles since the last oil change? Secondly, the amber light may be on for any number of reasons (eg lose gas cap, engine misfire...). If you have access to a simple OBD code reader it would probably give you a good indication as to why the CEL is on.
