A6 Gearbox
Hello,
A6, 3.0, CVT, 2003. Transmission is busted. Need to change my gearbox.
I want to know what type of gearbox do I have in my car. How do I find out my gearbox/transmission code to order a replacement?
A sticker in the trunk said the following:
ENG. CODE/TRANS. CODE : BBJ
Is this correct? Attaching the snapshot of the sticker as well.
Please advice urgently.

I remember a friend of mine, a tech for a local Audi stealer, saying that those gearboxes were easily rebuilt from the bottom, in the car. Have you looked into this? When you say it's busted, what failed?

For starters, the PRND has been flashing for a while now. Reverse gear never got engaged. Next up, the car stopped going past the 1st gear.
Got the car checked by a tranmission specialist, he did some tests and told that a few sensors are out. Need to open the gearbox and replace them. It would cost as much as a good second-hand tranny.
Here is the list of sensors he said were dead and needed replacement:
Air flow sensor
Speed output sensor
Speed sensor
T-gear ring sensor
He also said that replacing these sensors still does not guarentee that the problem is fixed.
So now I am trying to understand which tranny would go with my car? The second hand dealer is asking for the tranny code, which I am not sure about.
Thoughts?

Hello,
A6, 3.0, CVT, 2003.
Please advice urgently.[/QUOTE]
