Default Request for help with my 1.8T 2004 Audi Cabriolet

I am having a problem with my 1.8T Cabriolet that the dealer has not been able to diagnose. Randomly when I step on the gas from a stop the engine does not respoond. The engine rpm will go up about 300-500 rpm even if push the gas pedal all the way to the floor. Has anyon else experienced this problem? How was if fixed.

Default Never seen this issue - not on this forum or any other. I'd find a Vag-Com or

ask the dealer to check for any codes in the ECU.

Doesn't sound like this is going to be easily diagnosed though... how random is it? Once a week, once a day?

Sometimes I can go two or three weeks with no problems. Today it happened backing out of my garage. Very random.

I will ask the dealer to check the ECU

Default This is a simple job for the dealer...

There is no way you should have to tell your dealer to scan the car. It is SOP for electrical glitches. Jest tel them the probelm.. they will fix this. But don't expect it ASAP, the parts will likely need to be ordered.

Our cars are Drive By Wire. The likly culprit is be the accelerators' angle sensor. This is the sensor that sends the signals relating to the position of your foot/pedal to the ECU. If the sender is intermitant then you get exactly what you described.

Thanks, I'll call the dealer to see if they checked that sensor. To this point while interested in fixing have been unable to replicate the problem, thus they don't know what to fix.

Default This is normal...

For today's computerized, sensorised, electrified cars.

If the ECU does not store a code, then the techs rarely kow where to look.
