Any way to add the gear indicator next to the D or S on MFD?

It changed with recent models when Audi changed the way D and S are selected with the gear shifter. Now, Instead of separate D and S positions, they use an electronic combo D/S selection by tapping the gear shift back which alternates between the two modes. One advantage to this design is you can enter the manual mode by moving the shifter to the right in S mode (and back again) w/o having to go from S to D first. I have no idea why in some newer cars they didn't set the bit to show the D or S gear number, but it's easy to change it to display with Vag-Com. It's possible that in some new 2014 models it may already be set to display.

So they have removed the gear position on facelift models. I wonder why
