99 a4 wont start,not getting fuel? need help troubleshooting
LAST WEEK i did a temporary quick fix to my exhaust pipe-inches before the catalytic converter? ( exhaust wrap) It was running great and VERY quiet.About 2 days/prox.85 miles later i started it up,went about 3-4 miles in town then it stalled. for the next few blocks it started went a 1/2 block-stalled and so on prox. 4,5 times (my friend looked under the hood , was fiddlin with ?It started up ran (rough-like wanting to stall)and
made it home 2 blocks to my driveway(i think i might of actually coasted in a bit before it sputtered n' died .it started up again 10 min later ,however it only idled 60-90 seconds_"ish" then sputtered n' stalled,would not turn over and start for aprox. 15 min later., tried 4 more times(SAME EXACT way it behaved ) until battery was too low. I NOTICED THAT I COULD NOT HEAR THE NORMAL slight humming of the fuel pump? back seat passenger side (as i normally do).my first question is : was the humming noise normal or was it a sign that it was on its way out? (or did something get unplugged or loose etc...?? MY 2nd QUESTION is: (i later learned that my friend (earlier the same day it broke down) tighted the clamps down more-WAY TO MUCH( enough to press/push/force the wrap (NOT TAPE ,BUT THAT WRAP USED TO WRAP HEADERS ,PIPES etc..a ways inside the pipe! so THE 2ND Q IS did clogging up my catalytic converter cause my car to stall/
