Default 4.2l A6 vs S6

I'm in the proses of buying an 2002 S6 Avant, the previous owner has informed me that the engine needs to be replaced. There are a lot of A6 engines for sale but I have yet to find an S6/S4 engine, as of now I do not know the engine code, but how different are these engines? Could I use the bottom of an A6 engine and move everything else over and get S6 performance.

Thank you, I'm still waiting to buy the car, there are some serious paperwork delay.

I will post when I start my project.

Default Hydro locked, I need a new connecting rod

Finally got the S6. Engine code BBD
Water had been entering the engine via the brake booster due to clogged drains.
Engine only have 65k miles, but it was not rotating freely, I initially taught one of the pistons was hitting the valves but as you can see one of the connecting rods was bent and on the down stroke the bottom of the piston hit the crank shaft.
Additionally the cam chain on the passenger side had jumped one tooth.

I was on e-bay last night looking for a connecting rod but no luck, called the dealer this morning and they only sell these rods as a short block for $$$$$

I have attached pictures of the rod, some of the markings on it are 077B DE BHS D 9
In the bottom the # 24 is in-graved.

Please let me know if you have one for sale.

Kris
