Default *Warning* to those selling their cars in Chicago. (a bit long)

So I sold my A8 last Saturday. THe buyer had put down a $200 deposit.

What follows is when it came time to do the deal.

I had 2 TV tray tables setup in front of the couch downstairs. My laptop was on one, the other empty.

Buyer comes over. We go downstairs. I get his name, address, etc, to type into the bill of sale on the laptop.

Meanwhile, he pulls out a stack of $100's and starts to count to himeself. He gets finished and says "whoa, I almost gave you too much...I forgot I already gave you $200.00" He takes some of the cash and puts it back in his pocket. He then places the cash on the empty TV table. Keep in mind he never sat down.

I finish the bill of sale, and go to the printer to get it. When I get back, I pick up the cash and count. It's $300.00 short, so I count it again, placing each $1000.00 in it's own stack for clarity. At this point it's obvious that the money is $300.00 short.

He says "I don't understand...it was all right there...I don't know where it went..."

I look at him and say "What...? You want to search the couch?" (My couch has dual recliners, so the cushions don't move, and he never sat down on the couch.)

Him: "no, no, I just...I just don't know where it went...it was all right here."

Me: "Well, what do you want to do? Tear apart my couch? go ahead. You want me to empty all my pockets?"

He continued to play off like the money had magically disapeared in my basement somewhere. I finally told him to go out and look in his buddy's vehicle. After 15 minutes of being out there, he comes back with the missing $300, and no explanation.

If you want his name, email me

Default As long as you got your money, great!

Think of it as a lot easier than doing the next repair which would of taken much longer than 15 minutes!

Did you check to see if they were not counterfeit? I would meet at my bank even for a cash deal.
