The problem is that I don't have the signal stick yet and I'm sure i have to do more changes to the car modules (with VAG-COM) but I'm waiting for those. Maybe somebody with lane assist can copy/paste their codes...

I have the resources to do custom cable harness and stuff like that, so maybe somebody can give me an electric diagram and I can put a temporary "push button". It will look horrible but is just a temporary solution until I find one on EU or becomes available in the US.
It should be available in the US. 2013 models have the option of active lane assist. The button to enable/disable is in the turn signal stalk as you mentioned. Since they sell cars with it in the US, they should be able to get the part.

Gentlemen,

I have read your posts with interest. I am based in the UK and been working on lane departure for some time on my 2011 A8 3.0 tdi. I have fitted the stalk and found a wheel with the vibration motor. Managed to copy the camera, image processing, instruments and steering wheel controllers codes from an A6 that does have it plus some fiddling. I have no errors

The button on the stalk does turn on the warning light but LDW doesn't actually work. It is nothing to do with wiring it is to do with activation which at the current time seems to be impossible. On all newer Audis they seem to be guarding this stuff very closely.

I have an opportunity to talk to a Master Tech next week as the RAISE function has packed up and will be asking them to take a look at LDW and Speed Limit display at the same time (which also is coded but does not work)

It's a shame that Audi have now chosen to make this all so difficult when all I want is to add is the final two extras that did not come from the factory as I bought my car from the showroom to get a mega discount. Perhaps I am greedy as I got a lot of really good gadgets including LED headlghts.

I will let you know if I make any further progress.

Mike

I knew that was going to be a problem. I tried activating it using numerous methods.

Please check out my current research in the A6 forum here. Hopefully there is something you overlooked.

If you have any questions or ideas, please let us know.

I'll be getting my car back soon and will continue to research this.

Lastly, are you certain the electronic mechanical servos in our steering system is not used for vibration? that was also one of my guesses on what I would be missing, but a few shut down that idea.

What did your Master Tech say? Any luck with getting the LDW to work on your A8?

Just to confirm: With a new LDW button-stalk and using our existing steering wheels (Prestige w. Innovation) the most likely reason it isn't working is due to a software issue?

Default Lane Assist Coding

Hi there, I have the stalk and have managed to figure out enough coding to get the lane assist indicator to go on and off with the push of the stalk button. The instruments show the lane assist lines but the Lane Assist indicator never goes green and is therefore unhappy about something. In MMI my green menu only allows me to enable Active Lane Assist which is not the same as Lane Assist. I have changed my steering wheel to the version with the inbuit vibration motor which I can control with the output test from Steering Wheel electronics. I have also fiddled with the values in the camera and image processing which I think is where at least part of the problem lies. I have not found any new coding for ACC.

Cool, I just purchased my A7 last week and already want to add this feature. I can't believe that Audi shafted us on it. Those Bastards.

Did you drive above 40 mph? ALA is only active above 40 mph when the indicator goes green. Doesn't work in city driving.

The very first thing I did - I leave it on all the time "in the hope" but no joy!
