I've posted separate results for the A4 and S4 for the B7. Tested doing so with the B6, but the sample sizes are then too small and the stats don't seem to differ much between the two, so it seemed best to keep them together at least until more B6 owners are participating.

I'll revisit this with each update, and hope to have separate results for the S4 soon.

Help make this happen:

Hi All,

Bummer re: the paucity, to date, of B6 S4 owners participating in TrueDelta's reliability research surveys. I'll be reporting the following at my next survey as my car is currently in the shop @ 88k for the major service at 75k was apparently partially skipped by the PO just before I picked it up...aarrgghh!

Front pads (Pagid OEM...dusty...cough)
OEM rotors (front 325mm)
Valve cover gaskets (both sides)
Serpentine Belt
TSB for "engine whine" (pully & tensioner replaced for serpentine belt)
All filters (fuel, air, cabin)
All fluids (trans, oil, brake)
Suspension bushings (x2) -- control arms
New tires -- Continental Pro Contact (quiet, cheap, fine for DD use)
and a few other things, I'm sure.

Cheers,
Tim

1. Short Block for oil consumption (new engine)
2. Starter
3. Sound pan underneath car everytime it snows a lot
4. Oxygen sensors
5. Another Oxygen sensor
6. Brake pads and rotors
7. Rear view mirror because of a CEL

Total Car has been in shop for 8 months since April, currently running on a 9 week service with a loaner.

Default Just not worth it

Yes, it has great power but I'm tired of little electrical gremlins. None have sidelined me but it's frustrating on such a nice car. My 01 S4 was so much better. I'm jumping ship to an 07 Infiniti G35X

Default Tensioner Replacement

Just curious, I am hearing the whine from the Tensioner. Is there any damage that can be caused by not replacing the tensioner?

My car developed the same issue (@ ~87k) that did not surface until I had taken the car to the track. My technician checked the condition of the secondary air injection pump (which was fine) and performed the Audi TSB which included replacing the serpentine belt tensioner and pulley. This solved the high-pitched whine that was occurring between 2-3k rpms when the engine was cold.
Hope this helps...
Cheers,
Tim

You might want to do a search and, if it finds nothing, ask in a separate thread. Is it just a noise issue, or could the tensioner issue actually cause the belt to fail?

On the survey--probably still don't have quite enough participants to post separate results for the B6 S4.

We've just updated combined results for the B6 A4 and S4. Starting with the next update, in May, I'd like to post separate results for the two models. This will depend on how many owners participate.

Passenger Side rear fog light has no voltage to it - no idea how to resolve.
04 S4 has only one fog light in rear and it's on the driver side. so you're good on that one.
