I understand this, but if they were to offer only the 3.2 autobox in the US, I don't think it would
need any additional federalization, would it? Same frame, same body panels, same motor and trans all of which are already federalized.
I guess my question is, would they have to crash test them from scratch just b/c of adding some body cladding and a slightly higher-riding air suspension?

I have a 2002 allroad tip and a 2004 allroad manny. I don't care for the Q7 as it is or in concept. I do a lot of 10 hour drives and the 3L TDI is what I have been desiring for a long time. I had a Mercedes 220D, 1969, and a 300TD wagon--1982. Loved them both for their dieselness AND economy. I'd buy a stick 3L TDI in a flash. No Q7s for me.
