Hi All

Im am new to this forum and hope I that I am posting in the correct place and asking my question correctly....

Here goes...
I have a Audi B6 S4 4.2V8 but no motor and the block is damaged and connate be repaired. Is it at all possible to fit a 2001 Audi A6 4.2 V8 engine into the S4.

1. What issues will I have?
2. Are the wiring all the same?
3. what are the differences in the 2 engines (I know 1 is 22kw and 1 is 253kw)

short answer:
not w/o great difficulty.
the older motor has timing belt, not chains, and is physically longer.
plenty of S4's get parted out; buy the correct engine.

I have been hunting for an Engine for the last 3 Months and cant find one. I am from SA and spares are very hard to find. If I were to change the engine wiring and ECU would this engine work

I highly doubt it would work. There is a reason Audi modified the 4.2 to fit in the B6 platform.

I wouldn't recommend doing the install. get the correct generation for your platform. the B6 V8 has been shortened 52 mm for clearance issues, so right of the bat an older model will give problems to install.
