2014 Q5 Remote Start?
#32
If you don't have the Advanced Key option, do you need to put the key in the slot to start moving? Or can you start and stop the car from a single remote?
And on a different topic, what is the emergency engine shutoff procedure with the remote start, should your Audi pretend it is a self-accelerating Toyota Prius with the mind of its own?
Regards,
/Sergey

Spijun, what is so unique about the Audi security system?
Here in the US, security systems are great for stopping joyriders but useless for stopping car theft. Professional crews simply tow the car they want. That hookup with a tow truck used to take less than one minute, but there's now a new tow-truck on the market that allows a driver to hook up your car, without getting out of his cab, and pull it out of a parallel parking spot and be gone in ten seconds. TEN SECONDS. And if there's no motion sensor in the car, no alarm will go off.
Of course that requires purchasing a truck. More commonly, the number of car hijackings has gone up where car thefts have gone down. Much simpler to take the car with the keys while it is running.
Unless the security system offers GPS tracking and an anti-carjack program, it is still 1970's "Immobilizer" technology.
