hey folks, first post here, very active on Vortex, but their A6 support is less than encouraging. Here goes:

My brother is looking at buying an '02 A6 4.2. he's having the guy meet us at my house since I have all the goodies (Vagcomm and requisite tools) and a lot of experience with dubs and a couple audis; the cherry being a mk1 GTI with swapped TT225.

Are there any trouble spots I should look for specifically when inspecting this thing beyond the typical VAG trouble spots?

timing belt service (complete) - every 75k. Big job. Front control arms wear regularly. Auto tranny issues. car is overall stout. Motor is a good one.

Yea, i know the timing belt, apparently that was done 30k back, but was definitely on my list.

Control arms was not, but since I was going to be looking at the axles anyway that'll be an easy one.

Any typical weak points with the body? water leaks, rust, electrical?

Is it the Valve body or the TC that is generally the issue with these?

Did I miss the miles? When was the thermostat serviced? Hopefully when the timing belt was.
