Attempting MMI 4610 Update - "MetaInfo cannot be analysed!"
Hello everyone,
Having a few problems updating the MMI in my new-to-me A6... and was hoping I could get some input from those who may have had the same problem.
For starters:
Vehicle - 2005 A6 3.2
MMI - 2G High (C6-HU 6360D2.0)
Current MMI Version - 1070
Navigation DVD Version - 2012/2013 (4E0060884CP)
CD Changer - 4E0035111A
Using OEM 4610 (ordered from dealership, not copies) discs (4F0998961), I am attempting to update my MMI from 1070 to 4610, as T-SB 91 for MMI High System software update (Zug 864 - update) procedure states 4610 can be updated from 1070 or higher. However, I keep getting this error:
The following things have been ensured:
1. Navigation disc of version 5 or later is installed.
2. Genuine disc for MMI update is being used.
3. MMI update disc is installed in CD changer slot 1.
4. MMI version is 1070 or later is currently present.
Now I will go on to say that I am getting some static in my audio from ALL AROUND the vehicle when playing a CD, but no static when playing from anything else (even though there is a T-SB for static from audio fixed via an MMI update). I have found two instances where CD changers had to be replaced due to what seems to be a bad fiber optic connection, seen here:
https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2758475
https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2602427
Given I have the static issue when playing audio from the CD player (which is said to be a fiber optic connection issue and I am getting the message "Drive error!" when the MMI attempts to read the MetaInfo from the disc, I am leaning towards a faulty CD changer.
I come from the B5 chassis, so NONE of my friends have an A6 I can quick swap out CD changers to see if this is the problem. So before I order a replacement changer, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were or if anyone else has experienced the problem.
Thanks,
Brett

Did you already consider the below:
First with Update CD 4F0 906 961AB and afterwards with Update CD 4L0 906 961 H.
DO NOT ATTEMPT to go from anything less than 27.50 to 41.40 directly.
DO NOT ATTEMPT if your nav disc is less than V5.
I noticed you currently have 10.

46.10 eliminated this requirement and you can install 46.10 directly, however the disk 1 should be run before installation which checks for Bluetooth module discrepancy between SW and FW and if present updates the FW on the module.
If not performed and there is discrepancy the BT module will be permanently bricked.
Get VCDS (Vag-Com) and run the optic loop diagnostics.
If the DX is OK and there is still interference noise while playing CD I would swap CD player with somebody else from this forum who lives near to you and see if that solves the problem. Also you can get CD changer pretty cheap.
