I have 260,000km - which is 161,000miles.
Runs perfectly, gives around 22mpg city, 30mpg-ish country.
Use 10w50 full synthetic oil - barely uses drop!
Also on original clutch!
Great engine/drivetrain for durability.

B4 Quattro with 221 000 miles. Beat the crap out of it in Ontario salty winter. Withing five years I only replaced a rear CV and a rear bearing.

I abandoned this car for two years, after the fuel lines rusted. I owned a Jimmy and a Civic in those two years. I came back running.

Right after I put the new lines in, my cats collapsed on the highway. I overheated it. The engine did not boil, but the exhaust got HOT... I tested the compression and it's within 150-146PSI. Perfect.

Right now it's getting new cats and I promised it will be different. I will take very good care of this car. They don't build them like they used to... I would put the money down on a brand new 12v any day. It might be a slug, but it's bullet proof.

Default Mine's a 1997 A4 Quattro

The engine and transmission had 218,000 miles on each. The torque convertor bushing let go a few months ago so I had it rebuilt and then went ahead and rebuilt the engine as well. The heads were trued and all new gaskets, seals and gaskets installed. The machinist said all it really needed were new rings and bearings.

Had previously put on a front big brake kit and changed the rear brakes out for a complete S4 set. Running on S4 wheels and suspension as well.

Completely satisfied with the car and how it runs and its going to stay in the family for another 218,000 if I have anything to do with it.

My fathers 94 A6 2.8 automatic did 340,000 km (211,000 miles) before an engine swap. Car was LPG converted some years ago and ran 60,000+ km on it. Big fuel savings... Head gasket was done recently, but there was a problem with coolant loss over time. And idle was a bit rough, probably worn cams. Oil changes not too frequent.. So he bought a low mileage 2.8 and swapped over the engine and all the LPG conversion stuff.

My 96 A6 2.6 automatic has 190,000 km on the clock. I had it LPG converted when I bought it at 169,000 km and since that it only runs on petrol during initial warm up. I tend to fill 10 litres of petrol (2,6 gal) when the gauge hits the red line. Next time I fill some petrol I've put 2,200 km on the tacho (1,300 miles).

The gas price here is 10 USD/gal, so an LPG conversion makes a lot of sense in the long run, as it is 5 USD/gal. That's US gallons. On gas my 2.6 did 24 mpg, but only 19 mpg on LPG. The 2.8 does 22-23 mpg on LPG, so my 2.6 deserves an inspection...

Well my number is a bit lower...

My 1995 90Q is at 99600 miles. I've owned it since 70.5Km. It leaks oil and coolant and supposedly the last owner replaced the clutch right before I purchased it but such an interesting and pleasing car to drive. It has truly made me fall in love with the Audis of this era.

Mines around 280,000 at a guess. It's had an engine swap and a dash swap so nobody can be sure.. Hopefully going to make 400,000 before I give it up!

(from original post) My '96 12V is hanging in well at 227,000 miles- doesn't leak, doesn't burn oil, and pulls a couple of gears to 6,200 RPM getting on the freeway every morning. Always starts, runs smooth and quiet, and made 30 MPG at a steady 70 earlier this year. Not a lot more that I can ask for! How are your 12-valves doing on the road, and how many miles?

Update: Still running like a champ at over 263,000. I'm likely to sell it before too long and have a couple of people at work who want it; I just bought my Daughter's 2005 3.0 A4 Quattro, because she's moved up to a cool black A5.
