Thought I would post some pics of the parts in a Contitech timing belt kit. I have a new low mileage 98 Cabriolet and thought I would just get the belts, tensioner, idler, waterpump and Walher thermostat all done and out of the way. No history of any timing belt work done with 78k miles on the car. A new Nissens radiator with Walher thermoswitch too for good measure. G12+ coolant change goes with the job. Cam holder and crank tools from Koch $72 including shipping. Not bad.

Interesting the parts in the Contitech kit were from everywhere. Waterpump says made in Germany but I don't recognize the manufacture marking.

Idler is made in Slovakia by SKF.

Tensioner made in Germany by SKF.

Serpentine belt made in Romania. (not in kit, purchased separately)

Timing belt made in Mexico! Now that bothers me. Other than the Mexico timing belt..a nice kit.

Mexico has bean manufacturing Audi/VW parts and cars for who knows how long, so i probably would not worry about it too much.

Yep..Seems like the timing belt is was well made. The 60k mileage guarantee helped too.

The radiator replacement was a bigger job than I thought. Very fiddly with the front A/C condenser brackets behind and slotted into the radiator mounts.

Timing belt and pulleys were easy in comparison.

Nice kit.
