ANOTHER blown tire :(
Damn winter potholes.
A month ago we hit a pothole and blew the right rear tire. Got a brand-new replacement ($350!), old ones have between 6/32 and 5/32 left on them. So last night my wife hit another pothole and blew then right front tire.
Got smart and got a used one on eBay for $175, has 9/32 left on it. So the question is: to limit excessive wear on the transfer case, do I put it on the front right where the tire is blown, or do I move the left-rear to right-front so the front axle is balanced and put the replacement on the left-rear?

Put it on the front where the blown one was (the easiest). Check if it is directional.
Bottom line: you can put it wherever you want. It won't hurt your transmission in any case.

I purchased the tire/wheel insurance when I bought my s8. Not sure if this is an option that is available to you.
I have had it for 8 months now, put 5500 miles on it. Hit a pothole a few weeks ago, brought it in for an alignment and was informed of a bubble on the inside of the right front. Insurance replaced the tire at no cost. Running 20" stock wheels also.
