MPG Update: 12th&13th tanks of diesel - now avg 26.1 mpg w/ 31.7mpg/604mile tank
The consumption value using 110 may have been a little excessive. I'll try 109 for the next handful of tanks. 110 setting averaged -1.6% err over 5 tanks.
Didn't notice any difference with AC turned off when driving same style. Will likely keep it off unless needed (defrost/dehumidify).
Got 31.7 mpg and 604 miles on a 500 mile road trip with some stop & go around time driving before/after a couple days, resulting in 604 miles just after it turned "0 miles remaining". I filled up and it shut off with 19.03 gallons, so I know there's at least another gallon I could have gone based on what I've filled before (and probably another 2 more than that).
Had to increase the axis on my graph to capture the 600+ mile tank :
I've also managed to drive more miles in the past almost 4 months in my Q5 than I had in 8 months of my A3 or all year in my 996TT:
I want to fill a gallon of diesel in a portable tank and run it dry and see how much it will really hold. The car should be able to protect itself from someone running out of fuel, I just don't know if I want to test it
All (many more) graphs here:

I have also been using Fuelly.com to enter my fuel data there so we can build up some meaningful stats for all Q5 (and particularly Q5 TDIs) and I encourage you to do the same! It makes for a nice sig photo too

Here's the way to make the change to consumption accuracy in the trip computer:
Adjust Consumption in DIS
[17 - Instruments]
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 3
change 100 to xxx (see samples below)
Sample 1 - Calculation based on volume per distance (e.g. l/100km):
DIS: 9,3 l/100 km.
Real: 9,8 l/100 km.
OldValue * Real / DIS = NewValue
(100 * 9,8 / 9,3 = 105,4)
Channel 3 will be changed from 100 to 105
Sample 2 - Calculation based on distance per volume (e.g. MPG):
DIS: 23 MPG.
Real: 24 MPG.
OldValue * DIS / Real = NewValue
(100 * 23 / 24 = 95.8)
Channel 3 will be changed from 100 to 96

Calculated 27.148647 mpg on my last fill-up with mixed highway/city driving, and many days were subfreezing.
No complaints here. The Q has been VERY good so far…..3300 miles on the clock. As Phil says, "Happy, happy, happy."
