Default Fuel Range Incorrect

Anyone else have this problem? I know I'm not going to get 1250 miles out a tank. Unless someone swapped a TDI into the car overnight.

Does your fuel gauge read erratically(moves back and forth)? If it does then that's part of your problem and might have a problem with the sending unit. Maybe check VCDS for codes.

Is your fuel gauge reading correctly, including the "please refuel" indicator? Also, did you by chance park on an uphill slope a few miles after refueling where the ECU may have been tricked into seeing more fuel in the tank after you drove 12 miles?

This reminded me... you didn't happen to fill the tank while the vehicle was running did you?
Seem to recall that can cause weird readings.

What is your consumption in MPG showing and does resetting that help ?

Haha yeah it has been pretty cold here lately.

I reset everything in the display after getting the car a little over a year ago. It has only recently started doing this. Fuel gauge has always seemed to be accurate and the low fuel turns on at just below 1/8th of a tank (red).

I always have the car off when refueling. Don't need to risk anything stupid happening. No weird parking angles either. The mileage was just after a quick run down the highway to my destination.

We now know that cold fusion is achieved at -15F, but the question is did you actually reach 88 MPH ?

Seriously though... I'd run a VCDS scan and see if anything pops up.
You could also check and run through the DIS consumption calibration routine - it could be off possibly.

Consumption in DIS:
[17 - Instruments]
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 3
change 100 to xxx (see samples below)
Sample 1 - Calculation based on volume per distance (e.g. l/100km):
DIS: 9,3 l/100 km.
Real: 9,8 l/100 km. (100 * 9,8 / 9,3 = 105,38)
Channel 3 will be changed from 100 to 105
Sample 2 - Calculation based on distance per volume (e.g. MPG):
DIS: 23 MPG.
Real: 24 MPG. (100 * 23 / 24 = 95,83)
Channel 3 will be changed from 100 to 96

Did you notice when pumping gas does the gas pump stop pumping prematurely? Mine stops at about 3/4 full and I have to keep "topping it off" for the last 1/4 tank. At first, I thought my gauge was incorrectly reporting the levels.
