Default new old 1997 A6 E-bay

I just got a spotless 1997 A6 with only 34,000 miles on it for only 8,700 miles. So it doesn't have heated seats or a sunroof, but everyhting else is there and it is spotless. Not sure if I am going to keep it or sell it.

And the not so clear coolant. I have found low mileage Audi's lack required maintenance.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/38897.phtml</a

Default Thats $8,700 and 34,000 miles...........

Yea, well I now have the car and I was a little pissed at first because the car has two problems. The coolant was one of them. Driving the car home from DAS was fine until I stopped the car. While sitting in the car just checking it out running, shortly the coolant light came on, and then proceded to overheat. After letting it cool down, I drove the car home without stopping to check it out. After a very long time trying to figure out what was going on with the cooling system, I finially figured out that it was constantly overheating because there was an air bubble in the cooling system. Who ever did the coolant service - dis-service in the past must not have known about the bleed screw on the heater hose. So the expansion tank was dark in color from rusty water being in there for a long time. I have since serviced the coolant system, flushed it out over and over, and now it is OK. THe other issue is what you said. THe car was backed into a pole or somehting solid. It obviously has a new bumper cover on it, but as seen in the photo, there is a little dammage there but does not affect the car. I have a friend that works at a body shop in Scottsdale, AZ, he told me that it can be taken care of easily. So it is not too much of a concern to me at this time. I also had to replace the battery the other day, but over all with the problems taken care of, I know I got a really smokin' deal with the car. The pictures on the auction did suck, but the interior is really new looking and spotless. I do love the car, but it was a crazy gamble on my part buying a car on e-bay whick I don't think I will ever do again. Luckaly I do know what I am doing with Audi's and could handle the issues.

Default Been There, Done That

The 98 Chevy S-10 I bought almost two years ago off Ebay was a gamble but it was a 98 w/ 84,000 miles for $2950 for my son. I bought it with the attitude that whatever was wrong with it we would fix & learn from it. Turns out it was a fleet vehicle & maintained well. It now has 95,000 on it & other than regular maintenance we put a $5 automatic trans cooler fitting on it...lucky.

On the Audi subject. I put a deposit on my A6 @ $10,940 over the phone after seeing photos Emailed to me from the Audi dealer in Chicago. When I went to look at it I found so much wrong with it I talked them down to $8000. Darn glad I didn't buy it on Ebay.
