Did you do this with the VAG COM or with something else?

I'm thinking about having someone make some suspension spacers similar to the ones in the picture below but keep the air suspension. The problem I've found is that on the highest setting the suspension is very stiff due to the increase in air pressure. This will help by letting me use the lower settings more with the same clearance as the highest and giving a little softer ride over the rough stuff.

What about just putting larger body spacers between the body and frame to get a small lift?

That would work if there was a frame but being a unibody car this wouldn't work. Spacers on top of the air springs would essentially do the same thing though. Lift the body higher off the ground without messing with longer suspension components.

Why wouldn't that work? The Allroad is utilizing spacers, which the A6 is not. It's simply replacing them with taller spacers.

Here's an excerpt from Allroad self-study program.

Didn't realize that the allroad had spacers on the subframes. I suppose that doing it this way would extend the air springs by the amount of the spacer without adding any air giving a softer ride with better ground clearance.

Would this also mess with the engine and trans mounts? I'm only a year into my allroad ownership so I'm still learning all the details.

i would think all the wires might be stretched a bit but the engine/ drive-train is mounted to the frames except the exhaust I think

That's a very good point. It may change the angle of the driveline and affect it. When my Mazda 3 had bad engine mounts, the engine dropped just slightly and caused a whine in my manual gearbox under certain conditions.

I'd figure the wiring, brake line etc would be fine considering automobiles are placed on full lifts all the time allowing suspension to fully extend at least 4 inches with no problem and there's plenty of slack for that. The driveline and exhaust aren't affected either during that example, so should be no problem lifting the allroad higher if it's your desire.

So I guess your gonna put all terrain tires on it; like 31 x 10 ?

That be cool; there's a pic somewhere of one wearing such tread. Perhaps someone here will recall it and post it.
