I had an Audi mechanic shop look at mine (for free). So nothing was taken apart to look at it... But they did say they watched my front right wheel while braking and it actually pops outward.
What could cause that?

Sounds like either control arms or bad bushings and ball joints. The bad news is, if it's just the bushings, I am almost sure you have to buy the whole assembly, they don't sell them parted out.

You can purchase just the bushings. Because we found on of my lower control arms had a bushing that was destroyed and I replaced and it didn't stop the clunking... All of the other bushings look fine. I was told it is probably my hub's bearings! That should be easy compared to control arms... right?

Make sure that anyone who replaces front control arms tighten the ball joint pinch bolts while the car is at normal ride height.
If you fail to do this you are risking premature failure of the bushings.
