Those are the figures just published in Road and Track for the LEXUS GS350 AWD!

This is the V-6 model, not the V-8, and it's a friggin' Lexus-boring-luxo-mobile, yet it's quicker in a straight line than any C5 or C6 except the RS 6 and V-10 C6 S6!

I know, I know, acceleration is only one part of a complex equation that makes up a car, but it's still disheartening to me.

NO, I still wouldn't want one, but.......my wife would probably like it just fine, particularly at a list price of about $49K decently-equipped.

Moral of the story: Audi had better pull than 2.9T off the shelf sometime soon and stuff it in the C6!

As an aside, they also have a short take on the C6 S6 in the current issue, and it ran 0-60 in 5.1, and the 1/4 in 13.5 @ 106.7. Problem is, it costs $80K. Sigh.

Cars are gettin' FASTER!

The sequential 6 does a lot for the Lexus. It allows more of the 300hp/270tq to be on tap.

Default Audi A6 has fallen way behind in the performance arena.

When they scored a big hit with the 2.7T, one hoped they would continue. But,,, Nope.

Default I find that interesting as the GS is bigger than the IS

the IS AWD is more in the 8 second ballpark for 0-60 for it's AWD, the v8 is quicker but is RWD, but I thought the GS was heavier than the IS, quite interesting indeed.

The IS awd is a 200hp 2.5. The 430 is quicker b/c its lighter and hs 45 more ft lb.

Audi better get off their asses...regular A6's seem slow in today's world IMO. Bring back the turbo!

You are correct with everything, but look at the TERRIBLE .79G for grip. .90G for the RS6

Default Wanna hazard a guess as to the measured lateral acceleration of a sport-suspended C5? >>>

>>> .79G, as measured by Car and Driver in 2000.

Don't get me wrong, I understand your point - the S6 will of course handle better than the GS, but NO WAY should the straight line acceleration of these 2 cars be that close.

Tires are huge factor in lateral grip assuming you are not comparing a 911 to a '76 cadillac
