Default Excessive Engine Vibration at Idle

Anyone, experiencing this? I have about 14,000 miles on my A7, and the vibration just seems excessive for a 80K car. Is this normal for Audi's?
thanks

Sorry to revive an old thread but I just purchased a CPO A7 and has a slight vibration during idle whether in Park or Drive. The dealer couldn't find anything "wrong" but it definitely does not feel right. I've sat in two more A7s with mileage without the same idling issue.

Did you fix your issue Mac?

Could be alot of things. You hear that the 3.0T is not susceptible to the notorious Audi carbon build up in their DFI engines - but who really knows. When you buy a CPO car, you never really know how it was driven - alot of short trips - which might make is susceptible to that problem. Of course, it could be a plug or a coil pack or something.

The dealer scanned it and did find a misfire on one of the cylinders awhile back but I don't think it's THaT kind of rough idling. It's more pronounced when the engine is warmer. The type of vibration I'm feeling seems to point at a type of pulley/belt or rotational problem. I guess it seems to be a rare issue, at least amongst owners on this forum.

I had the same issue with my Audi. They kept telling me it was normal. I took it to a independent mechanic. He sat in for one minute and told me I had a cracked engine mount. It was then fixed under warrenty

It would be highly unusual for an FSI engine (or any engine for that matter) to develop excessive carbon deposits on the injectors, valves or the FSI SAI ports that would affect idle or performance after only 14K miles. I would think really bad fuel with no detergents would have to have been used since new.

I just got a 2013 Audi A7. I am dealing with this same issue!

I will have the car in park and you can feel the car vibrating! If I have a water bottle in the cup holder you can see the water shaking a bit.

Took the car to 3 shops and they all told me they could not find anything wrong and the car was in perfect shape with no engine codes.

One of the shops told me I had a bad PCV that is causing excessive pressure in the crankcase. They informed me you know you have a bad PCV when you have the engine running and the oil cap is hard to remove. I do notice it's a bit hard to take of the cap when the engine is running.

The shop I took it to yesterday told me that is not a good test to confirm if the PCV is bad or not. He recommended a tune up and a carbon clean and the car does seem somewhat smoother but the vibration is still there.

I'm starting to think this is just how the car is. I don't want to put money into the PCV replacement until there is something to let me know that that is an actual problem.

The shop told me to also use the best gas possible. I'm currently using Kirkland gas from Costco and he told me that is a HUGE no-no! I am going to burn of all that gas out my car and try shell 93 to see if that makes a difference.

For what it's worth: my oil cap is hard to remove when the engine is not running. I change my own oil and a have an R8 cap for summer use. I should find thinner or softer material to make another gasket but I forget until it's time to remove the cap.
