Default Modding license plate lights?

I've got a friend who just got the new R8 GT and I noticed his rear license plate light is white instead of the usual incandescent yellow tone. My other friend with an older R8 had yellow lights as well. The white looks much cooler and I was wondering would it be possible to swap the Q5 rear license plate light with one similar to the R8 GT?

FYI, there are two types of aftermarket mod
1. LED Fetson Bulbs (cheaper, not as bright as #2, but just right imo. This is the one I used in my last reply).

2. Replacement LED units (as shown in this DIY guide)

1. LED Fetson Bulbs (personally prefer this as you still use your original Audi plate light housing unit)

2. Replacement LED housing unit

I went with bulbs from Tunerdomes. I'm happy with the results.

I used the Tunerdomes in my old Q5 and my wife's 2011 A4. I also have a set for when my S4 comes in. Very pleased with the look.

was it easy to swap out? I just saw guides for housing swaps but none showed how to replace the bulb
