Default Replacing the Master Cylinder

After a couple of searches on the forum, i'm wondering if you guys have any advice on replacing the master cylinder and limiting the amount of air you expose to the system.

Default I replaced my MC with a MC from a 200TQ, Part Number

441-611-021 B, with the braking more powerful, using less pedal power.
It is an awesome upgrade.
Check to see if it might work on your car.

Look at the difference in the size! In this case, bigger is better!

Finally, to answer your question about the air: proper bleeding of your brakes will eliminate any air in the system.

Default wow huge contrast! awesome pics, i was thinking about using a later/sports model master cylinder

but at this point was focusing on seeing how to do the replacement straight up. I'm not sure what small details to pay attention to and procedures to make sure I limit air exposure to the system.

sorry about the dupe also. we are going into some detail here :https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/700242.phtml

the more the merrier.

cool pics btw. i wonder if i could use the 4.2L A6 or an S6 MC. If it fits, it should be an awesome upgrade. I'm surprised I haven't found any posts on this. I looked for hours today! It seems like such an obvious upgrade!

Default If it works, let us know and include some pics.

You even could do a writeup on the mod and put it under the Resources tab above.

Default Did you run across this post?

Mance responding to my post commenting on his OEM iron Master Cylinder:

"You must remember who came up with that idea. I was the very first to have it in my B4 engine bay!

and it's out of the car for only one, very worthwhile reason. It's being bored over-size and stainless steel sleeved to a dramatically larger Porsche RSR Cup Car rebuild kit size."

If you find the part number for that rebuild kit, please let me know.

Default question

when you took the old one out and put the new one in, was there anything special that you did? did you just basically drain the remaining fluid from the reservoir, and then just unscrew the entire thing, put the new one on and reassemble. Finally flushing the entire system a couple of times?

My mechanic did this mod for me. I would suggest you replace all the brake fluid.

I just happened to be on the internet 9 minutes after you asked the question. Weird, huh?
