PSA: It's not a good idea to argue with your wife in public in a convertible.

I was a little upset for a number of reasons and my wife unintentionally pushed all of the wrong buttons. I was not yelling at her but the tone in my voice was stern. I pulled into a gas station and stopped at the pump. As I was getting out of the car, I said the absolute wrong thing. I said, "Why don't you just shut the f*ck up?"

I immediately regretted it, but the damage was done. I was pissed off at myself and thinking about what to say when a guy on the other side of pump said, "Come here bra". Then it started.

Me: "What the f*ck did you say?"
Him: "Come here and let me talk to you for a minute, bra."

Now, this guy was big and extremely fit. I was incensed that he would speak to me and I have never backed down from a fist fight (though I have gotten my ass whooped, my last fight was ~15 years ago). I stepped toward him and said:

Me: "Do I look like I am holding up some titties? I am not a 'bra'. If you think I am your brother, you are sorely mistaken."
Him: "I'd like to talk to you for a minute and offer some help."
Me: "What, are you gonna offer to invite Jesus into my life or some other bullsh*t?"
Him: "You're a real *******. I'm sorry that you feel that way."
Me: "And I am sorry that you feel the need to interfere with other people's lives."
Him: "Eat a dick, *******."
Me: "No, thanks. that's what your momma's for."
Him: "**** you *******."

He walked back to his car and I took the nozzle out and hopped into the car and drove away. Then I noticed he was following me and speeding to catch up. I live a few blocks from the gas station on the same street, so I took a turn into the neigborhood behind my house. He followed me for 7 turns, but as I rounded a corner, I ducked down a horseshoe-shaped street that I knew intersected with the street I was previously on and would put me behind him if he maintained velocity. I slowed down to a crawl and as I rounded the last corner, he passed and I had the opportunity to give him the bird.

I was behind him and he drove right into an intersection and he had to make a decision. He turned left and I went straight. I lost him.

In retrospect, I know that he was trying to be a good samaritan but I pushed him over the edge with me. I now need to figure out what to say to my wife.

If ever you doubted, rest assured that I can be a complete *******.
