and the answer is, the program achieved its goals, the public got tired of paying for it, and the space shuttle was decided upon as deserving the focus of our NASA dollars.

What vital questions about the moon remain unanswered? We basically know what it is made of and have a good idea how it got there. Not much of economic value exists there (especially considering the enormous cost of travel), so its common sense why we haven't gone back. Presently the only profitable use of space is in communications sattelites. Until some other economic imperative creates a sufficient demand for manned space flight, it will continue to be difficult to justify the expense of public funds. Especially when there are kids growing up in this country without the Spiderman game for their PS2 (see thread above on "poor" people).

Sorry if I didn't make it clear, this was a breakfast conversation between several people.
Some of those questions were asked... such as when was the last time we went.. I had a feeling it has been a while but figured I would ask and start the discussion. I don't think the person who asked why we haven't gone pack was a moron because I really didn't know why, im not a scientist and had no idea why. Maybe money? Didn't know that's why I asked. Personally I pretty much believe we went, but with **** that was posted yesterday about the Gov't planning terrorist attacks on ourselves to support the war on Cuba, you cant blame a person for questioning our Gov't. To the people who answer were based on intelligence and knowledge, thank you. To the people that answered based on "what they were taught in grammar school" ... morons. |

The topic of the converstaion was about the Conspiracy Theory. The questions were a direct result from that conversation.

cause it could blow up and throw the moon out of Earth orbit sending it hurtling through the universe to close encounters with inhabited alien worlds every week.
Guess I watched too much Space 1999 growing up...

Riddle me this....
Who was responsible for sending Mohammed Atta his visa extension? Looks like it doesn't work according to your overly simplistic viewpoint, HUH? |
