Default I have - it comes down to this.

It depends on the environment.

Among friends where you KNOW no one will be offended, it's harmless fun.

If, however, everyone is laughing except one person then that's not cool IMHO.

Default to me very few racial/ethnic jokes are trully funny.... [more]

because i actually think racial/ethnic humor is EASY. when a comic's act is primarily those types of jokes, then i know/think that i am looking at someone w/ a weak act. that type of humor is easy because of the political/social climate we are in. everybody has tends to have a knee-jerk reaction to stuff with racial overtones, real or imagined. and politicians (jesse jackson, e.g.) and lawyers (johnny cochran, e.g.) profit from this!

also, very few racial/ethnic are trully offensive. and it all has to do with the timing - and that is when it can be offensive. there is a time and place for everything. for example, if there president cracks a racial joke during the State of the the Union, that's ain't cool. but if he cracks a joke to a close friend that doesn't mind (say privately to Colin Powell or Condoleeza), there is no harm there. if it's between a bunch of close people in a casual environment - who cares? have at it. it's only words!

but, IMO, in general it's never appropriate in the workplace. again - timing is everything.

my $0.02.

Default Ok, how about this one: Why did Daniel Pearl become a towelhead?

Cause the blood was getting all over the walls!

I just made that up. Is that funny?

Default You know what bugs me? People that groan at jokes.

I mean really, who groans a f*cking joke? It's good to have opinions, but be less political, please! I can't imagine being offended by a JOKE.

Default Never?

I heard one once.

Q. What's the difference between a Jew and a pizza?

A. The pizza doesn't scream when it's in the oven.

That's offensive IMO.
