I picked up some 17" OZ wheels and S03's from Tire Rack a couple of summers ago for my 2002 A41.8QT and its time to replace the tires. The only complaint that I had with the SO3's was with tramlining. The tramling was acceptable (my wife hated it) at the beginning but it got to be a bit annoying towards the end of the tread life so I would like my next set of tires not to have issues with tramlining but to be (hopefully) in the same ball park handling wise.
FYI, I didn't have any issues at all with the ride comfort and road noise levels of the SO3's but I would like my replacement tires to be at least as good in these areas. I live in a dry climate so hydroplaning/wet traction isn't high on my list. I'm not a track person (even though I'm signed up for my second Audi Club driving school) so I could probably could sacrifice some grip. Recommendations/comments? Highest on my list of priorities is handling with little tramlining. If Mich Pilot Sports PS2 and the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tramline (are there any reports on this?) I'm leaning towards something like the Toyo T1-S or stepping down to a tire whose handling isn't quite as good. Dunlop SP 9000's seem to the recommended tire for those wanting longer tire life and improved ride/noise. If the SP 9000's are a big step down handling wise, should I be looking at something like the P-Zero Rosso's ? |

We've not had nearly the reports of tramlining on either the GSD3 or PS2 as of yet. We've driving on both tires and had enough feedback by now that if this were as major of an issue as with the S03 I would think that we'd have known about it by now.
That being said, the 9000s and Pzero Rossos will be slightly quieter, have a bit better ride, but are less responsive than what you're used to or were considering with the GSD3/PS2.

Is the PS2 a good tire for the b6 S4, I do not intend track use but I do drive very agressively and it rains alot in eastern Canada |

Never had tramlining with the S-03 (and don't with the PS2), but the PS2 has a noticeably firmer ride. If that's an important consideration, you might want to avoid it. Other than that, the PS2 seems like a great tire.

grip. Last summer I went into a very sharp turn on the Jasper Highway way faster than I intended (to stupid to realize that I was tired) and I was amazed that the tires didn't even chirp. I would have been off the road for sure if I tried that with my all seasons.
