Default Good bye A6

I just traded in my A6 for a 535xi, it was sad to see my Audi go. I think I needed a change, this is my 4th Audi in a row. I want to thank Audi world and all its members for providing such a informative site. I will still drop in from time to time to give you guys a hard time

Well, they both have their plus and minus. I made up a list of the pro and cons and they were tie

Here is my list:

A6 pro: better engine, center display between gauges, vent seat, no run flat, rear HVAC, Nicer steering wheel, Nicer shifter, $2000 cheaper if BMW free maintence is considered.
535xi pro: better highway handling, Quieter, better seats, free maintenance, nicer door arm rest, roomier, power trunk, better radio control, I drive **** have better feel.

Congratulations on new F10!!!
I agree this is a great forum and great feedback from members, I'm new to A6 but still own 535i 2009 just curious:
1- What options did you get on 535i?
2- How is steering feel as it is hydraulic as compared to A6? mainly center feel.
3- Did you get global software update for throttle delay, hopefully this is not an issue as 535i cars do not have it.
My 2009 535i I'm thinking of trading it in at mid cycle refresh for 5 series (around 2013).
Enjoy F10 it is a wonderful car!!!

Sorry to see you go, enjoy the car!

I am curious how you only cam up $2,000 cheaper though. I looked at pricing for a 335Xi and it came out 6-7K more expensive for what I have equipped. not minus Audi care but it's not THAT much for Audi care.

Also isn't the MPG significantly worse in the BMW?

Good Luck with the Bimmer G Man. After 25 years worth off BMWs I went the other way, over to Audi. They are both great cars, each with their strong and weak points . Happy with my A6
so far and wish you happiness with your 535xi. Give us an update every once in a while. I am sure you will be a regular on the F10 forum.

My 535xi has the tech package, preimium package, cold weather package, multi-contour seats and premium sound.
The steering center feel is dead on, the Bimmer is without a doubt a better highway car.
My car was made in Feb 2012, so it has the throttle delay software update already. the throttle delay is not bad if I shut off the start stop function. On the plus side, with the start stop function on, I can get about 20 MPG in the city. On the highway, I am at about 31 MPG constantly. Keep in mind this car have not been broken in yet and have only 200 miles.

I used to have a Prestige A6 with the cold weather package, I brought it for $53000. The BMW 535xi MSRP for $64000 and I got it for $700 under invoice and $1500 factory credit. That comes out to about $57000. I estimated about $2000 for the BMW free mainteance. So the difference is about $2000. There is a BMW drive for usa promotion going on right. All you need to do is sign up and test drive the new 3 series and you get $1000 off your next BMW purchase. Here is the link:

I had a used BMW when I got out of college, so its been about 25 years since I had a BMW, I guess I am due. In a way, we are traveling in opposite paths. I agree, they are both great car. In fact, the BMW general manager like my A6 so much that he took it as his personal executive car.

On paper at least, now is a better time to go from the 5-series to the A6, rather than the other way around. I assume G Man is referring to the C6 platform A6. The C7 seems is getting rave reviews.
