A quick search on this issue lead me to this thread. Last post was in 2009. Has there been any updates on how to disable the door lock button on the doors? Our 2 year old has is able to kick it with his foot and although it is somewhat of a concern, we are conscious that we could potentially lock ourselves out of the car with the child in it. So of course, always have the key in hand when exiting... could be as simple as refueling, loading groceries, also a pregnant wife doesn't always have the ability to think ahead. Has anyone simply tried to unplug the switch?

I posted about this recently also, we had our kids locked inside the car also.

I was loading the rear cargo area, while my wife was putting the kids in the car, she keeps her key in her purse, and placed it on the floor in the backseat when she put the kids in. She closed the doors, i finished loading the cargo area, and closed the hatch.

2 year old that has her car seat next to the door pressed the lock button. Who wouldnt want to press a button with a nice red light next to it.

Great! she locked the car with the key inside.

We were 30 min from our house, wife stressed out. Was able to talk my 5 year old that was strapped in her car seat(yea 5 point car seat, not a booster), on how to unbuckle her seat, and then pull the door handle twice to open the door. Luckilly she was able to get out of her seat (first time she ever had to do it) and that the child lock was only active on one rear door.

I was going to take the door apart and try and disconnect the switch, i have yet to do it.

My daughter did the same thing today. It was 105 at the sun, so while my wife put the kind in the car i started the engine and I cranked the air conditioning. Then I went to load our stuff into the trunk. While she closed the door and went over to the passenger seat my daughter hit the lock button.

I had to unpack half the trunk to get in the back and open the back door for my wife to get in and unlock the car.

I also talked to a service representative today and they just said, you can't disable the lock button in the second row. LoL ... WTF!!!

I think i'm gonna look into how can i hack the computer and or electronics on this car. This is just bull****! Did they outsource this feature???

I agree that there should be a way to disable the lock button from being operational or rather only be able to "unlock"...

I went to the extreme to prevent a child from locking the doors from the rear seats in that I did not have any children...

Default Same here

My wife went to the gas station with my 2 years old son, closed the door and after filling the tank, the car was locked with my wife keys inside, apparently my son lock the doors with his foot. I had to leave work and go home to pick up the keys and go to the rescue.
I do agree, Audi should have an option to dissable the button.

am I the only one who keeps his key in his pocket? I get out to pump gas, key is with me. Never leave it in center console.

Plus doesnt the two buttons on the drivers side door control the back locks and controls? If you click them it disables the door locks, air controls, etc. You can do each side individually or both at once.

The child locks do not disable the lock switch on the rear doors, hence the issue of the kids locking the doors. I keep the key in my pocket, but my wife keeps it in her purse.
